My journey to this point

My own journey began when I was fiddling around with oil paints as a child. My Spanish mother was a singer and artist who became a well known water color painter in her local community in her 80’s. She also taught watercolor painting to seniors until she was 89. A real inspiration.

I loved Art enough that I studied art formally at school in the UK. During the 70’s my influences were Album cover art and design specifically Roger Dean.

Before graduation I was lucky enough to be selected for a solo exhibition of mixed media at The Hexagon, an arts venue, in Reading England.

My style has evolved to include may forms of media but the recurring theme that I have returned to has been landscapes some of which come to me in dreams or when traveling.

My images have horizons which are limitless and for me they represent infinite possibility

The process usually starts with an idea or specific image that comes to me. Something that I feel I want to convey and express. For example, a recent trip to Amsterdam, with my wife, to see the Vermeer exhibition had a profound effect on my creativity and ignited this desire to bring these emotional images to life.

I still love all the works from way back in my youth from album cover art. My wife and I have a common connection with art. We have always traveled and taken holidays to see specific exhibitions or museums. Some of the sparks that flew can be traced back to facing monumental images in person from the likes of Modigliani, Turner, Sam Frances, Vermeer, Quintin de la tour.

My art is constantly evolving through the merging of the physical and virtual – paint and technology. AI is a tool that helps in the process in getting the initial image that I can manifest into the physical.

What happens as I add pigment is where the magic of combining the media emerge in a unique way.

I am currently super excited about what I call my electric cloudscapes (electriccloudscapes.com). Because these are the images that I have combined the world of 17th century Dutch masters with the new limitless world of technology in the form of rockets, spaceships, fantasy and other worlds that always fascinated me throughout my career and now in my art.
